The ECDL Unit-E is an optional module designed to bring together all the 7 modules. The module also covers:

| This section covers such topics as the Data Protection Act, Offensive Materials, Copyright Restrictions, Back up systems and Data recovery and many other topics. |
| Health & Safety |
| Students should be aware of such matters as Repetitive Strain Injury, Glare from the screen and Recycling and saving energy which are all covered in this topic. |
| Working With Applications |
| This section covers Intergrating, embedding and linking data, cutting, copying and pasting data and generic formats. |
| Good Practise |
| In this section you will learn about copying, moving and deleting files, automatic updates, how to back up data and reduce virus infections. |
| Application Search |
| There are different ways to search for information, these are by using OR and AND, Greater Than and Less Than, Equal To and Wildcards. All of these are covered in this topic. |

| Presenting Information |
| Presentation is important and this section covers such topics as using headers and footers, tenplates, data type formating and character cases. |
Unit-E is not needed to gain the full ECDL certification although we do recommend that students study this module to collectively put all the other 7 modules into perspective.
