The 7 ECDL Modules

Below you will find information on the 7 ECDL modules that you will need to complete to gain the full ECDL certification. If you have any questions about any of these modules please do not hesitate to email us or just fill out the form which you can find here.

Module 1: IT Security for Users Module 1: IT Security for Users
Time: 3 hours
Module 1 teaches students about the importance of Internet and computer security and shows certain guidelines that should be followed when using email and searching the web. It will also introduce students to viruses.
Module 2: Using the Computer and Managing Files / IT User Fundamentals Module 2: Using the Computer and Managing Files / IT User Fundamentals
Time: 5 hours
In this module students will learn how to start and safely shut down a computer, desktop icons and windows. They will also be introduced to system maintenance and security.
Module 3: Word Processing Module 3: Word Processing
Time: 6 hours
Students will learn all about word processing in module 3. The lesson will thoroughly cover editing text, formatting, adding images and how to print.
Module 4: Spreadsheets Module 4: Spreadsheets
Time: 9 hours
The spreadsheet module covers opening/closing spreadsheets. Also explained are cells, rows and columns as well as formulas and functions and how to create graphs.
Module 5: Database Module 5: Databases
Time: 5 hours
Module 5 covers setting up and creating table fields, records and reports within a database.
Module 6: Presentation Module 6: Presentations
Time: 6 hours
Students in this module will learn about using templates and charts for use in presentations. They will also learn how to display their presentation in a slide show.
Module 7: Web Browsing and Communication Module 7: Web Browsing and Communication
Time: 6 hours
Module 7 finishes the ECDL by teaching students about security and web browsing and how to send and receive emails.
